The pictorial account of shipboard life on a Jubilee Class P & O ship during a voyage to India from Tilbury via the Suez Canal.
24 stunning mounted full page colour chromolithographic plates, including the title-page, each plate opposite a page of captioned black & white drawings (about 40 illustrations total).
There is a map at the rear illustrating travel from the West Coast of the united States through Asia, through the Red Sea and on to London.
In 1891 the artist and illustrator William Whitelock Lloyd boarded a Jubilee Class ship and captured the humour and subtleties of life on board. Original green front bevelled boards with a P&O house flag decoration and gilt titles to upper board, all edges gilt.
The chromolithographs are all mounted.
CONDITION
:  We believe this to be complete with damp staining on the covers, front fly leaf detached, interior hinges cracked, and front endpaper is detached but included. Pasted down illustrations overall nice. Scroll FULL DESCRIPTION to see MORE PHOTOS.
